According to RMC Sport, Manchester United has gotten in touch with Nice about the probable transfer of Jean-Clair Todibo
Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are the Red Devils’ first-choice center backs right now, with Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire serving as backups.
Maguire was entirely out of favor during the conclusion of last season, and he might soon leave the team. Recently, West Ham made a £30 million offer for him.
In the middle of this, RMC Sport reports that the Red Devils have contacted Nice on a potential trade for Todibo. They’ve ‘asked for the conditions’ of the transfer.
The player’s entourage has also been in touch with United, and the conversations were reportedly ‘productive’. Eventually, a transfer will be contingent upon Maguire quitting the team.
If Maguire departs, Man Utd might make a play for Todibo
Maguire is the topic of current negotiations between West Ham and United. It was recently claimed that a settlement might be achieved for £35 million after they had made a £30 million bid.
A transaction is still challenging because the Red Devils must also cover his salary. He must accept a substantial payoff from the club in order to accept a significant pay decrease at West Ham.
If they are successful in completing his transfer, attention may shift to Todibo, who has long been a priority for the Red Devils. In 2019, the team first expressed interest in acquiring him.
The 23-year-old has significantly progressed over the previous four years. Due to his advancement, the Frenchman received his first call-up to the national team earlier in March.
Todibo would be an improvement over Maguire. He is a powerful ball-handler and center back. He had an accuracy of 89% and completed 57 passes for each Ligue 1 appearance last year.
He also won 65% of his duels while recording 1.2 interceptions, 2.2 tackles, and 3.1 clearances. He shouldn’t have any issues adjusting to Premier League requirements.
If United is willing to offer close to the asking price of €45 million (£39 million), which is what Nice is seeking, a deal might be easy to complete. It initially depends on Maguire moving toward the exit.
