In an emotional goodbye message to fans ahead of his impending departure, Fred claims he “lived the dream” by playing for Manchester United.
Fred, 30, will join Turkish giants Fenerbahce in a €15 million (£12.9 million) trade after United manager Erik ten Hag approved his departure.
The Brazilian midfielder spent five seasons at United after joining from Ukrainian powerhouse Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer of 2018 for £52 million during Jose Mourinho’s reign.
As fans anticipated Fred’s farewell letter, United confirmed on Friday that a deal had been reached.
On Saturday, the 30-year-old took to social media to thank fans, writing with a video, “Thank you for everything, Manchester United Football Club.”

Despite getting criticism during his tenure at Old Trafford, most fans wish Fred luck in Turkey because of his never-ending work ethic. The Brazil international, who has 32 caps for his country and has been selected for two World Cup campaigns, was in the final year of his contract with the Red Devils and stayed at home this summer while his teammates began the club’s pre-season training.
His last United appearance was in the FA Cup final, as they were beaten 2-1 by bitter rivals Manchester City at Wembley.
That was where Fred won his one and only trophy in English football, lifting the Carabao Cup in February when Ten Hag’s side beat Newcastle in the final.
The ex-Shakhtar star made over 200 appearances for the Red Devils and leaves with his efforts appreciated by club staff.
