Matthew Tkachuk had more things to say about the Edmonton Oilers after his team beat them on Thursday night.
This week, Matthew Tkachuk and the Florida Panthers were on their usual trip through Western Canada, and he took some opportunities to poke fun at the Edmonton Oilers during their travels.
It definitely helped that Florida won easily against Edmonton, shutting them out with a score of 4-0 at Rogers Place. This victory made Tkachuk feel good as he prepared to visit his former team, the Calgary Flames, the following night. Even though he didn’t do well at the Scotiabank Saddledome, where his team lost 4-1, he was still cheerful when talking to the press after the game. He aimed another dig at the Oilers and the city of Edmonton when someone asked him about the new arena being built in Calgary.
Tkachuk remarked:
“I’m really looking forward to it. I enjoy this arena. I cherish my memories here, but I believe it will be wonderful for the city since they can finally have all the concerts and events they’ve been lacking… To me, this place is clearly the best city around. With the new rink, it will bring even more attention, and I think a lot more people from outside Calgary will realize what a fantastic city it is,”
The 28-year-old Tkachuk earned one assist in the victory over the Oilers but did not score any points in the defeat to the Flames. He currently has 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) in just 22 games this season.
Matthew Tkachuk Panthers Oilers
While Tkachuk keeps saying and doing whatever he wants, the Oilers once again showed little reaction during the game on Thursday night, even though many experts and fans were hoping for a strong comeback to all the teasing and insults he has given them since their last match.
Due to this reason, Tkachuk is not likely to change his ways of bothering the Oilers and their supporters. If there is a bright side, it’s that they probably won’t have to see him and the Panthers in the playoffs this season. More importantly, if the Oilers make it to the Stanley Cup Finals, they won’t have to play against them.
