Tiger Woods told to walk away from golf after sinking to unwanted Masters low on comeback

Tiger Woods, a 15-time major champion, faced a challenging weekend at the Masters, marking only his second start of the season.

Despite flashes of his former brilliance in the initial rounds, Woods encountered significant struggles, culminating in a 16-over-par finish for the event at Augusta.

His journey at Augusta was a mix of historic achievements and poignant moments. Woods notably secured his 24th cut at the Masters, reaffirming his enduring legacy in the sport. However, the tournament also saw him record his worst-ever round at a flagship event, highlighting the ongoing physical and mental hurdles he faces post-injury.

Colin Montgomerie, a former rival, expressed sentiments of closure, suggesting that Woods’ emotional farewell at St Andrews in 2022 should have marked his exit from professional golf. Despite continued efforts to compete, including an upcoming appearance at the PGA, Woods’ intermittent participation may not be sufficient to keep pace with the evolving competition.

While Woods remains determined to pursue his passion, many contemplate whether the time has come for him to bid a final farewell to the sport that he has undeniably shaped for over a decade.
