A big blow for the Maple Leafs as more changes keep happening.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been making big shifts in their management lately, and now they’re facing what might be the biggest change yet.
Even though the Maple Leafs haven’t officially said anything about it, a reporter from Toronto named Steve Simmons says that they have lost Brandon Pridham, who is really good with understanding the salary cap.
Brandon Pridham has played an important role in the team’s front office for 12 years, especially during the tough times of COVID, and now he’s leaving the Maple Leafs. It won’t be easy to find someone to take his place as he was the assistant GM and the main person in charge of salary cap matters.
While many regular fans might not know Pridham’s name, those who follow the team closely realize that the Maple Leafs have depended on his expertise with the NHL’s salary cap to get the most out of their budget each season. He was often called a cap expert or cap genius, and his leaving is definitely a big change for the Maple Leafs.
Pridham has stuck with the team even when there were a lot of changes in the organization, working with different leaders during his 12 years with the team.
Chayka is also thought to be good with numbers, so it makes you wonder if Pridham decided to leave on his own or if the new general manager thought Pridham wouldn’t fit into his plans anymore.
There is no news yet on what Pridham’s next steps will be, but considering how much people have praised his work lately, I wouldn’t be shocked if he gets hired by another team in the NHL.
