Connor Bedard Won’t Like This… Blackhawks Planning Massive Trade That Could Tear Apart the Locker Room

The Blackhawks want to make a trade.

The Chicago Blackhawks seem ready to let go of one of their top scorers from last season.

On Monday, it was reported that the Blackhawks are trying to trade the rights of Ilya Mikheyev, who will soon be a free agent. This suggests that a new contract with him likely won’t happen before Free Agency starts on July 1st.

This information was first shared by NHL expert Elliotte Friedman and has also been confirmed by Ben Pope, a journalist from the Chicago Sun Times.

Losing Mikheyev would be a big hit for the Blackhawks’ offense, as he was one of their top players this past year. He was the third highest scorer on the team with 18 goals, just behind Tyler Bertuzzi (32 goals) and Connor Bedard (30 goals). His total of 36 points placed him fourth on the team, again behind Bedard (75 points), Bertuzzi (58 points), and Frank Nazar (41 points).

Mikheyev seems to want a big contract as a free agent, and it makes sense since this is his first real shot at getting a significant deal in the NHL. He is in the last year of a four-year contract that had an average yearly value of $4.75 million, but he likely wants an even better deal this time.

Since not many skilled forwards will be free agents this summer, he might get the big contract he’s hoping for.
