Brad Marchand’s Latest Health Update Has NHL Fans Asking The Same Question

The Little Ball of Hate in the NHL just released some unfavorable news.

The 2026-27 NHL regular season may not be as thrilling as we had anticipated due to the possible sidelining of one of the league’s most contentious players.

Brad Marchand, a prominent NHL forward, announced on social media over the weekend that he was forced to undergo offseason surgery to treat injuries that would not recover on their own, despite his best attempts. Even though Marchand didn’t disclose what kind of operation he had, he did concede that it would take some time to recover and rehabilitate.

However, this was not a normal scenario since NHL players do not often make health announcements on social media. Due to the procedure, Marchand has had to skip a significant event in Slovakia called “Zee’s Final Shift,” which is intended to be a kind of send-off for former NHL great Zdeno Chara. Of course, Chara and Marchand were longtime Boston Bruins teammates, with both guys acting as captain of the Bruins organization, and you know Marchand wouldn’t skip this occasion unless it was absolutely vital.

“Unfortunately, I had to sort of make it at the last minute, and with the time and recuperation I’m going to need, I won’t be able to participate and play in the game,” Marchand said. “I have to complete the rehab and handle that so I can return to the rink quickly.”

The real question is how quickly will soon arrive? We are now just weeks away from NHL training camps as summer draws to a close. It’s still up in the air whether Marchand will be prepared for the season.
