Deadline Day done deal: Man United set to complete £60 million defender signing instead of Cucurella, official bid made, deal due to be finalised today

According to Deportes COPE, Valencia is concerned that Manchester United may make a loan offer for their captain Jose Gaya before the transfer deadline on Friday

In the transfer market, the Red Devils are hunting for an emergency left-back. They’ve already agreed on terms with Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella, but the transaction is far from finalised.

United have offered a £2 million loan fee for the Spaniard, but the Blues want at least £7 million to let go of the versatile defender. This could be a roadblock.

During this time, the club could consider other options. Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso is still on the club’s radar, but Deportes COPE claims that Gaya might be a surprise signing.

Gaya has spent his entire career with Valencia, but they are concerned that he will depart for Manchester United.

Gaya would be a wonderful addition to United’s roster.

Since his first-team debut, the Spaniard has made over 325 appearances for Los Che. He has extensive La Liga experience and has been connected with several major clubs, including Barcelona.

He would be an excellent signing for the Red Devils in our opinion. Gaya had an 81% passing accuracy from left-back last season. He averaged 2.6 tackles, five duels, and 1.3 clearances per game.

He had one goal and four assists on offence, but he also created 10 huge chances. The 28-year-old had an amazing average of more than one successful cross per game.

Gaya has the disadvantage of losing possession, yet he would complement the manager’s playing style. Transfermarkt now values him at €30 million, but he could be available on an initial loan.
