Erik Ten Hag has been given deadline to save his Man United job

Erik Ten Hag’s job is in jeopardy as he faces a deadline to maintain his position at Manchester United.

Robbie Savage believes Erik ten Hag should be given until at least Christmas to get his Manchester United career back on track after a rocky start to the season.

The former Reds academy product questioned Ten Hag’s summer selections, particularly his recruitment policy and the decision to give Bruno Fernandes the captaincy. He has described the situation at Old Trafford as “a mess,” and claims that one of the problems is a lack of a specific style of play.

With Sunday’s 3-0 setback to Manchester City, the team has now won only half of their first ten Premier League games. Ten Hag’s club is already 11 points behind the top spot, and a loss to Fulham in their next league match may see them fall out of the top half of the table.

“If you look at Erik ten Hag’s time at Manchester United and compare it to Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham, Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton, Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, or Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, the stark difference is no one knows how Manchester United play, or at least what they are trying to do,” Savage added.
