Fabrizio Romano, providing an update on David De Gea's RETURN claims as Manchester United consider replacement

Manchester United transfer news – The most recent

Long-term Manchester United custodian David de Gea announced earlier this month that he will not be staying at Old Trafford beyond the end of his contract, leaving the club after nearly 12 years.

The 32-year-old’s absence created a gap in ten Hag’s squad, prompting the Manchester giants to look for a replacement before the season begins next month.

United, on the other hand, moved quickly to sign Inter custodian Andre Onana, with a €55 million (about £48 million) agreement nearing completion.

The former Cameroon international was instrumental in Inter’s march to the Champions League final last season, keeping eight clean sheets in 13 outings until the Milan giants were defeated 1-0 by Manchester City in the final.

However, Romano just informed his followers that Onana will not fly to Manchester overnight on Monday to finalise a move to Old Trafford, implying that an announcement may have to wait until the end of the week.
