Flyers Fans Are LIVID With Cutter Gauthier Again. Did He Really Disrespect a Philadelphia Legend?

Cutter Gauthier’s status in Philadelphia suffers another blow.

I’m afraid that relationship will only get worse, since the Philadelphia Flyers and their fan base are not precisely big admirers of Anaheim Ducks superstar Cutter Gauthier.

Many years after it was first captured, a popular video of former Flyers forward Scott Hartnell has taken on a somewhat strange new life on social media. In the video, Hartnell makes some extremely damning accusations against Gauthier, who is now universally reviled in Philadelphia. When Hartnell discloses that Gauthier insulted a Flyers legend, he makes several very serious accusations against Gauthier.

“They dispatched one of the most decorated US hockey players, John LeClair… and this young punk says, “No, I don’t want to talk to you,” like, show some respect in the game of hockey and for your elders,” Hartnell said, almost in shock.

The other names involved are what make this story from Hartnell particularly bad for Gauthier. Hartnell and LeClair are also beloved former Flyers who captured the city’s hearts and minds years ago. Over thirty years after he reached the height of his celebrity as an on-ice player, hockey enthusiasts in Philadelphia continue to hold LeClair in high regard for being one-third of the Flyers’ notorious “Legion of Doom.”

As far as hockey enthusiasts are concerned, Gauthier might be regarded as public enemy number one in Philadelphia, and if he wasn’t, this narrative from Hartnell may have cemented that position.
