Together with former Napoli hero Lorenzo Insigne, Bernardeschi departed Juventus to sign with Major League Soccer team Toronto in 2022. Their relocation to the BMO Field, nevertheless, hasn’t had the expected effect. In fact, the Reds were unable to reach the postseason in their inaugural campaign.

Toronto will again miss out on the MLS playoffs, barring a significant event in the last weeks of the 2023 season. As a result, Bernardeschi misses home and wants to go. The 29-year-old is one of the top paid in the league as a “Designated Player.”

Both Bologna and Napoli are unable to pay him such high compensation. However, the player’s desire to return to Serie A action may help their cause. To negotiate a prospective deal, Thiago Motta’s team has already made contact with the winger’s agents.

Bologna are still the favorites to sign the Fiorentina academy graduate, but Napoli has a chance to derail their hopes. The recently crowned Serie A winners have some wiggle room because the Rossoblu and Bernardeschi have not yet reached an agreement.

Aurelio De Laurentiis, the chairman of Napoli, respects Bernardeschi. Additionally, he might soon attempt to get the Italian star to the Diego Maradona Stadium given that Hirving Lozano is rumored to be leaving in the summer. Though it’s still just a theory, anything may happen.
