We might have an idea about what will happen next for Alex Ovechkin.
The star player for the Washington Capitals has shared that he is uncertain about retiring or continuing his career in the NHL. His deal with the Capitals is coming to an end, and he is taking his time this summer to talk about his future with his family.
Patrick mentioned that June 26th, the date of the 2026 NHL Draft, could be a good time for him to make a decision.
“It would be great to have clarity before the draft, but I believe he deserves to take his time and do what he feels is right, so we will adjust to whatever he decides,” Patrick said. “Right now, we are focused on winning,” Patrick mentioned. “Our team is strong, and we are looking to add some new players. We are in a good position financially this summer, which lets us do a few different things,” Patrick added.
In fact, Capitals owner Ted Leonsis agrees with Patrick and has confirmed that Ovechkin has reached out to the team to talk about some important choices.
