Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will be under pressure at Old Trafford, and journalist Dean Jones has discussed the club’s internal feelings on his future with GIVEMESPORT, following a humiliating loss in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils fell to Copenhagen this week in Europe, putting even more pressure on ten Hag. United are now bottom of their group, having won only one of their four games and losing the other three.
Domestically, things haven’t gone well for ten Hag’s club, who have struggled to put up consistent performances in the Premier League.
United has already lost five of their last 11 games in the English Premier League, with several of their victories coming on the back of poor performances. Following a tough start, the manager is under increasing pressure, and their most recent 4-3 setback will undoubtedly raise further questions about his future.

Ten Hag had a good first season as manager, winning the Carabao Cup and securing a place in the Champions League. United fans at Old Trafford will have been overjoyed about the upcoming season, but their hopes of winning are progressively diminishing. Journalist Ben Jacobs recently told GIVEMESPORT that one major issue is that a segment of the United team is not adopting the ethos that ten Hag is pursuing.
Some supporters have asked for the manager to be fired and stripped of his responsibilities, but Dharmesh Sheth, a Sky Sports reporter, told GIVEMESPORT that the Dutch tactician would not do any better than players such as Carlo Ancelotti or Zinedine Zidane.
Five of Hag’s 14 losses at Old Trafford have occurred this season, indicating the decrease in performance at the club. The manager is clearly not getting much out of the current team, so it will be interesting to see whether the board decides to make a huge move soon.

Jones has stated that United will continue to back ten Hag and that he does not believe he will be fired. In an interview with GIVEMESPORT, he stated…
“I understand that there is a section of football society that wants ten Hag to lose his job, and that every time United loses a game, there is this narrative around him being axed and then deciding who would be best to replace him, but United seem unwavering in their support of him right now, and I have some big news for Man United fans – I don’t think he’ll be fired.”
The truth is that he is at ease in his job at the club. He is under pressure to perform, but I don’t believe he is under pressure to save his own job. His game strategy was working well against Copenhagen, and United were cruising when Rashford was sent a questionable red card, and everything fell apart. “Is it truly the manager’s fault?”
Jones has also stated that he does not believe removing ten Hag from his position will significantly improve things. The writer goes on to add that United should put their trust in him for the long haul and let him live up to his own aspirations…
“This team has a tendency to crumble in difficult situations, so I suppose some will argue that it is the manager’s responsibility to fix that.” However, United’s worldview has been shaped by years of agony and disappointment, and it is evident that this is proving tough to overcome.
I don’t think getting rid of Ten Hag would make things better any time soon. There is no clear candidate who can come in and do a better job, and there will always be new controversy and doubt anytime United loses a game – whether it is Ten Hag’s fault or not.
He has complete faith in his own credentials, and he considers himself a winner, therefore my personal opinion is that you are better off trusting him with his long-term project and allowing him to live up to his own expectations than paying him off, starting over, and venturing back into the unknown.”
