Is he capable of pursuing a second Stanley Cup?
It seems that veteran forward Corey Perry isn’t ready to leave the NHL just yet, even though he’s been one of the league’s most persistent figures during the last two decades.
In a recent interview with NHL.com Perry reportedly stated that he still enjoys the game and believes he is physically fit enough to continue his career with the Los Angeles Kings.
“I feel great,” Perry remarked. “He is a huge part of the reason I’m still enjoying myself and feel young.”
In recent seasons, the 41-year-old winger has played for several contenders as a depth player with postseason experience, moving about the league. He has been a desirable addition for teams vying for the Stanley Cup because of his eagerness to accept a smaller role while still playing significant minutes.
Perry’s work history demonstrates his skills. He has played over 1,200 NHL games and is still one of the most accomplished active players in the sport. He is a former Hart Trophy winner, Olympic gold medalist, and Stanley Cup winner.
Perry has continued to demonstrate that he can still be useful in the appropriate circumstances despite his advanced years. His ability to score at crucial times, physicality, and presence in front of the net have kept him relevant long beyond the age at which the majority of forwards start to decline.
He’s also inspired and motivated by his son and is currently focused on proving the naysayers incorrect.
“This is what it’s all about: sharing memories. Simply because he loves it as much as I do makes me pleased. Things like that help keep you driven while you’re doing all those offseason exercises. You’re still able to do things because of it.
“It maintains your desire.”
Winning another Stanley Cup with his son Griffin by his side is the last aim, in addition to demonstrating that many people were incorrect.
I’m excited to see what happens this season and whether Perry can achieve his ultimate objective.
