REVEALED – Why David de Gea returned to Manchester amid talk about a possible return to Manchester United

Why David de Gea returned to Manchester amid talk about a possible return to Manchester United

Despite continuous rumours about his future, Manchester United’s former custodian David de Gea has recently been seen returning to the city.

De Gea, 32, is currently a free agent after leaving United at the end of the previous season when his contract ended.

Andre Onana, a summer signing from Inter Milan, took over as the team’s primary quarterback in place of the Spaniard.

De Gea has been tight-lipped about his ambitions, fueling speculation that he may retire from sports rather than pursue a professional career.

On Tuesday, the former Atletico Madrid custodian posted a selfie of himself in Manchester to his Instagram account, which sent tongues buzzing.

Following that, a barrage of comments pushed United to re-sign the Spaniard, with some fans even speculating that a return to Old Trafford was already in the works.

However, the Daily Mail has recently confirmed the genuine reason for De Gea’s return to England.

“The Spanish custodian returned to the UK on Monday and is spending a few days sorting out the house in Hale where he lived until leaving United after 12 years at the end of June,” the Daily Mail reported.

De Gea has now returned to Madrid with his pop star partner Edurne Garcia and their 2.5-year-old daughter Yanay. The couple married in Menorca last summer.

The story went on to say that De Gea had yet to decide on his next professional step.

“It’s understood that De Gea – who turns 33 next month – is relaxed over his future as he enjoys some well-earned family time, and is not rushing to find a new club,” the Daily Mail reported.

“That may change in January but after spending his last four years at Old Trafford earning £375,000-a-week, he can afford to bide his time.”
