Travis Konecny got into a fight with Bryan Rust during Game 3 of the Battle of Pennsylvania. Now, he might get banned for trying to kick Rust during the brawl.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are having a rough time in the Battle of Pennsylvania. On Wednesday, they lost 5-2 to the Philadelphia Flyers and are now losing the series 3-0.
Travis Konecny and Bryan Rust
This series really deserves its tough name. It’s been a real fight, with both teams playing hard and not giving up. At one point, all the players on the ice ended up in the penalty box at the same time.
One intense moment happened between Konecny and Rust, where they were wrestling on the ice. Now, that incident could lead to Konecny getting suspended for trying to kick Rust.
After the game, Konecny talked to reporters about what happened.
“I don’t really remember much. I just know I was on the bottom—there was a referee on top of me and him,” Konecny explained to the reporters.
Calling for suspension
On social media, fans are asking for Konecny to be suspended.
“If Travis Konecny doesn’t get suspended for a game, I don’t understand what the NHL is doing. The Flyers break rules all the time, yet somehow they keep winning,” one fan stated on X.
“Konecny should miss the next two playoff games for the Flyers, even if it means it affects Round 2. That kind of play is unacceptable in the game. The NHL needs to handle this correctly,” another fan commented.
“If Konecny plays another game in this series, it shows the NHL isn’t doing enough to keep players safe. In most levels of hockey, trying to kick someone can get you banned for a whole season. That’s not hockey—that’s just wrong,” said a third fan.
