David de Gea, the former goalkeeper for Manchester United, is still without a club after leaving Old Trafford as a free agent. Erik ten Hag has since replaced him by Andre Onana.
David de Gea’s announcement on social media earlier this summer that he had departed the club after more than ten years of service prompted questions.
The 32-year-old veteran goalkeeper struggled to adjust to Erik ten Hag’s expectations, who emphasizes his shot-stoppers playing out from the back, despite the fact that he had performed admirably in years before when United were not at their best.
De Gea, who was in the last year of his contract, was also compromised by a number of expensive mistakes, leading to rumors that Ten Hag would look for a new No. 1 before the 2023–24 season.
De Gea, on the other hand, is still single, which is unexpected given his background. Prior to left United, the Spanish international collected 190 clean sheets in 545 appearances for the Red Devils and was named the Premier League’s Golden Glove winner.
Despite little activity, other clubs are said to have expressed interest in his services throughout the summer. As a free agent who is able to sign for a club outside of the transfer window due to his position as a free agent, Real Betis has been mentioned in recent Spanish media as a potential destination for the former Atletico Madrid player. He was strongly connected with Bayern Munich shortly after becoming a free agency.
