12 players will not play in the Bayern Munich match against Manchester United due to a new injury

The club has announced that captain of Manchester United, Harry Maguire, will miss their upcoming Champions League encounter against Bayern Munich due to an injury.

The English international has been added to the list of players who won’t be going to Munich, Manchester United announced in a formal statement. Maguire’s injury is still not fully known, but the Red Devils are hoping he won’t be out for a long time.

Before the Bayern game, the manager, Erik ten Hag, revealed that Maguire had complained of discomfort in training, preventing him from joining the team.

Altay Bayindir, Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana, and Sergio Reguilon, four summer acquisitions who might all play for the club in the European competition, are in the 21-man roster for the game.

Maguire has now added his name to a growing list of injured athletes, which now includes Tom Heaton, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Mason Mount, Raphael Varane, Sofyan Amrabat, and Amad Diallo. Manchester United will travel to Munich without a total of 12 players as Jadon Sancho and Antony are also left off the roster for a variety of reasons.

Only a late cameo appearance against Arsenal in the Premier League has been all that Maguire has seen on the pitch this season. Even though he was one of the best defenders before moving to Old Trafford from Leicester in 2019, Ten Hag’s coaching hasn’t been able to get him a regular berth in the starting lineup.

The 30-year-old centre back played 76 times for Leicester, appearing in all competitions, recording five goals and three assists. He won the 2017–18 Leicester City Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season trophies because to his outstanding performances.

Maguire made a promising debut for Manchester United, turning in a remarkable performance in the team’s 4-0 home victory over Chelsea, earning him the Man of the Match award. Since then, he has played in 176 games, contributing five assists and seven goals across all leagues.

However, since the appointment of Erik ten Hag as the manager, Maguire has found himself on the bench more often, with the former Ajax manager favoring defensive pairings that include Raphaël Varane, Lisandro Martínez, and even Luke Shaw.
