Dean Henderson underwent a “rigorous medical” at Nottingham Forest, which has prevented Manchester United from approving the sale of Henderson

The pace of Manchester United’s departures is picking up, with Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay at the forefront of the discussion.

One participant, though, has vanished into the background amidst the noise, and the potential cause of this has now been identified.

United are reportedly afraid to move forward with Dean Henderson’s loan move to Nottingham Forest because of the catastrophic injury he sustained there last season, according to the Sun.

The “rigorous medical” at Forest, according to United, could exacerbate the thigh injury he recently recovered from, endangering his long-term health.

Both sides are therefore awaiting his full recovery before continuing with the matter.

Last season, Henderson made just 20 appearances for Forest before suffering a thigh injury that kept him out of action. To replace him, Forest hired Keylor Navas, who was crucial to their Premier League survival.

Henderson was re-targeted by Steve Cooper’s team this summer, despite initial inability to agree on a price.

They changed their attention to something else due to Henderson’s injury troubles

Henderson’s transfer is in jeopardy because Matt Turner’s signing with Arsenal has already been done in large part.

The worst possible moment could not have chosen for Henderson’s injury. Although he hasn’t played a single minute of the preseason, Andre Onana is already without a doubt United’s first-choice goalkeeper.

The United Academy graduate thought that moving to Forest would be the logical next step, but that door is closing fast due to circumstances around him.

Because Cooper’s team is well aware of the risks involved in moving forward with this transaction, they offered to loan him to them, with a buy option that would become a commitment only after he completed 30 games.

United correctly declined the offer, but given that the transfer season is closing and the goalkeeper’s condition appears to be worse than initially assumed, the team may have to forfeit the money they had hoped to get in return for him.
