Final Man Utd takeover Date Announced: Sheikh Jassim will be licking lips as pathway cleared for £70m transfer

The most likely candidate to acquire Manchester United from the Glazer family is widely considered as Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani might have an open window to make a headline acquisition if he is confirmed as Manchester United’s new owner. Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who have both been associated with the Red Devils recently, are the two buyers that the Glazers have not yet indicated as being their top choices.

Sheikh Jassim has led a delegation from Qatar in an effort to buy out United’s current owners completely, while Ratcliffe has led a plan to purchase a 50% stake in the team. The latter would also be content to let the Glazers retain a small ownership interest in United, although under Sheikh Jassim’s proposal, they would have no ownership at all.

The Brazilian international is eager to leave PSG before the summer transfer window closes, and RMC Sport has linked Chelsea with a potential trade. Although Mauricio Pochettino tutored Neymar when leading the French giants in the 2021/22 season, it seems that he has no interest in making amends with the player.

Because Sheikh Jassim is widely believed to be a huge fan of Neymar, Jose Mourinho’s refusal to seek a transfer may give United the opportunity to close a deal on their own.

His Qatari connections could be helpful in resolving issues given that PSG has been governed by the state-backed Qatar Sports Investments company since 2011

The French giants are rumored to be receptive to offers for Neymar in the neighborhood of £70 million, but if Barcelona decides to make a move, the player himself may decide to prevent a move to United. If he leaves PSG this summer, he is rumored to have his heart set on a return to the Nou Camp, suggesting that no other team will be able to change his mind very soon.

Barcelona is reportedly reluctant to bring Neymar back because of the team’s well-known financial issues, according to ESPN. His desire of returning to his former club may be derailed by his estimated weekly salary of £600,000 at PSG, but if Sheikh Jassim is elected to the position, this may not be a problem for United.

It will be interesting to see how things play out between now and the end of the current campaign, given Neymar is likely to leave PSG in any case. He would surely be the ideal candidate to sign a statement in celebration of Sheikh Jassim’s move to Old Trafford, but it remains to be seen whether such a move will actually occur in the near future.
