In anticipation of Harry Maguire’s prospective transfer from Manchester United, West Ham is said to have provided a guarantee to him.
The Evening Standard reports that Maguire has expressed a desire to sign with the Hammers if a transfer fee can be worked out with Manchester United.
After agreeing to a £32 million deal to sign Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez, West Ham launched a £30 million bid for the England international as part of their expansion goals.
And despite only making eight starts for Manchester United in the Premier League last year, Maguire is reportedly eager to transfer to the London Stadium.
The 30-year-old is aware that his chances of playing for England at Euro 2024 next year may be in jeopardy if Erik ten Hag doesn’t give him enough opportunities.
West Ham promises Maguire
‘Ex-West Ham employee’ (through West Ham transfers) claims that Moyes has promised Maguire that he will be made captain if he joins the team this summer.
Declan Rice, the previous captain of West Ham, actually moved to Arsenal for £105 million earlier this summer.
And Maguire, who was demoted from captain of the United team last month, has reportedly been given the opportunity to wear the armband in east London.

Because Manchester United is still debating its £30 million offer for the defender, she added, “there’s a lot more optimism on [West Ham’s] end of getting a deal for Harry Maguire through the door.”
“That club valued him at about £40 million, but a transfer could happen with a compromise of about £35 million.” Therefore, the asking prices for Maguire from West Ham and Manchester United are close to one another.
The club does not want to obstruct Maguire from receiving more playing time elsewhere, but Erik ten Hag has made it clear that he is content to keep Maguire on the team as one of his center-back alternatives. Thus, talks with West Ham are still ongoing. That’s pretty close.
“A compromise of £35 million is easily attainable in terms of add-ons.”
