The rivalry between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Pittsburgh Penguins was very obvious during Game 4 of their first-round series in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Even after the game was over, the anger from both teams was still evident on the ice.
One specific incident at the end of the game caused a lot of chatter among fans online. Some fans criticized Penguins star player Bryan Rust, while others were blaming Flyers newcomer Porter Martone.
After the final buzzer of the third period, Rust and Martone ended up facing each other. Players from both teams were pushing and shoving, even throwing a few punches to show they were ready for Game 5. The situation with Rust and Martone unfolded a bit differently, as Martone tried to put Rust in a headlock, but Rust reacted in a pretty rough way.
When Martone tried to grip Rust’s head tightly, Rust yanked on Martone’s hair. He pulled hard enough to make Martone’s head jerk back sharply along with it.
Some people have criticized Rust for how he handled Martone, arguing that hair pulling doesn’t belong in hockey. Others, however, think Martone got what was coming to him for trying to mess with a seasoned NHL player like Rust.
