Even though the Carolina Hurricanes finished off the Ottawa Senators with a win on Saturday, there were worries about the health of their defenseman, Alexander Nikishin.
When he got up, Nikishin nearly fell back down onto the ice but was caught by his teammates who held him steady.
On Sunday, the Hurricanes announced that Nikishin will be sidelined for a while because of a concussion he got during the game. They also mentioned that he will be returning to Raleigh, North Carolina and will go through the NHL’s concussion protocol from now on. It’s really hard to guess how long he might be out when it comes to the league’s concussion rules.
However, NHL expert Elliotte Friedman shared that Nikishin was seen celebrating with his teammates after the match, which is a positive sign considering how he appeared right after the hit.
