The Ottawa Senators lost their first playoff series in the Stanley Cup against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday. However, one player from the Senators made a bad impression on some viewers during Game 4.
This problem started because Walker was being held by Warren Foegele, who is Greig’s teammate. This left Walker unable to protect himself when Greig threw a cheap punch. Former NHL goalie Kelly Hrudey didn’t hold back in his criticism of what Greig did in the game.
I am talking about Ridly Greig, a Senators player known for getting under the skin of other players. But on Saturday, Greig went too far when he punched Hurricanes defenseman Sean Walker without warning, which upset many former NHL players.
Hrudey called Greig’s punch “cowardly and disgusting” while commenting on Sportsnet.
Hrudey also supported Walker’s response later in the game, which involved a dangerous tackle.
Hrudey wasn’t the only ex-NHL player who was upset. Paul Bissonnette thought Greig should get a significant suspension for his actions.
Bissonnette mentioned on TNT, “I think it should be a five-game ban. When Foegele has Walker in a headlock, Greig throwing an uppercut like that is just ridiculous. ”
Bissonnette even said that this kind of incident would have him waiting for the other player after the game.
