As a Premier League dream, keeper Zion Suzuki is open to an offer from Manchester United.

Goalkeeper Zion Suzuki has disclosed that he has received an offer from Manchester United and retains hopeful of one day joining the Red Devils.

The 21-year-old, who is presently on loan at Belgian side Sint-Truiden from Japanese club Urawa Reds, was heavily linked with a move to United during the summer transfer window. However, the deal fell through, and United instead signed Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir as part of a major goalkeeping upgrade.

Suzuki, who was born in the United States to a Ghanaian father and a Japanese mother, reaffirmed his desire to play in the English Premier League despite the setback.

“My dream is to play in the Premier League, and I have received an offer from Manchester United,” he told voetbalbelgie. “Even if I can’t go there now, I definitely want to go there in a few years.”

Suzuki, who made his debut at the age of 16, has played four games in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League this season and also represents Japan’s Under-23 team. He has also been named to the senior squad.

Suzuki, who is regarded as “a leader among the next generation of Japanese goalkeepers,” was previously connected with a £5 million move to United. While rumours stated that talks were going well, he finally turned down the offer on the table.

His decision was motivated by his prioritisation of playing time in preparation for the Paris Olympics, a decision that kept him out of the spotlight at Old Trafford.

United examined other goalkeeping alternatives during the summer transfer window, including Dinamo Zagreb’s Dominik Livakovic and Feyenoord’s Justin Bijlow. They ultimately chose Turkey international Bayindir, who arrived for £4.3 million and signed a four-year contract, taking up the No.1 shirt left vacant by De Gea but has yet to make a competitive appearance.
