Man Utd announced Andre Onana ‘get-out clause’ as Erik ten Hag ripped apart for transfer

Andre Onana had had a nightmare start since Erik ten Hag brought him to Manchester United.

According to Dwight Yorke, Andre Onana’s early struggles have made Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag look dumb, and he might consider duplicating Sir Alex Ferguson’s treatment of Massimo Taibi. However, the Dutchman has an upcoming ‘get-out clause’ that could save him from embarrassment if Onana continues to struggle.

Ten Hag made the audacious decision to end David de Gea’s 11-year United tenure in the summer, spending £57 million to reconnect with Onana at Old Trafford.

The 27-year-old is coming off a fantastic season with Inter Milan, in which he helped the Serie A giants reach the Champions League final.

However, he has failed to find his feet in Manchester, conceding 19 goals in his first 11 games and making a number of high-profile errors.

Ten Hag brought Onana in because of his outstanding ball-playing talent and demeanour, but he has caused more difficulties than solutions since his arrival and still has much to prove.

Yorke isn’t convinced, stating that replacing De Gea with a completely different style of custodian following Ten Hag’s first season in charge was a significant risk.

“They always say that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.” “I told everyone to be careful what they wish for,” Yorke told Stocklytics.
