Manchester United fans have identified the one bright spot in their team’s defeat to Bayern Munich.

United lost 4-3 to Bayern at the Allianz Arena in their Champions League Group A encounter, with Harry Kane scoring his first Champions League goal for his new club.

After Galatasaray and Copenhagen tied 2-2 earlier in the day, the Bundesliga champions now lead Group A. Meanwhile, United has dropped to the bottom of the group after just one game.

Despite the Old Trafford club’s lacklustre performance, Sergio Reguilon’s performance against the Bavarian giants delighted United fans on social media.

The Spaniard joined United on loan from Tottenham towards the end of the summer window, with the club lacking options at left-back due to the injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

Reguilon had not played a competitive game for Spurs since April 2022, and had spent previous season on loan at Atletico Madrid, when he appeared in just 11 La Liga games.

While his arrival did not originally excite the Old Trafford faithful, it is safe to say that United fans have warmed to the 26-year-old.

“Never thought I’d say this but Sergio Reguilon has been one of our best players since his debut,” one user wrote on X, the social networking platform formerly known as Twitter.

“He’s giving everything he’s got.”

“Is there a buy option in Reguilon’s loan deal?” wrote another.

A third stated, “The fact that Reguilon (a loan player) has been our best player says a lot about the state of this football club.”

“Reguilon is United’s best player by a long shot,” a fourth person said.

“*tweets I didn’t think I’d be writing this 3 weeks ago.”

“They say don’t fall in love with a loan player, but… Sergio Reguilon,” stated a fifth.
