Despite the fact that the details of one specific agreement have not yet been worked out, Nottingham Forest is sure that there will be a double raid on Manchester United
Man Utd has already made two significant improvements to their team this summer. David de Gea, who is currently a free agent and looking for his next club, has been replaced by Andre Onana. Mason Mount has also injected some inventiveness into Erik ten Hag’s center midfield.
Now the focus is on acquiring a new starting striker. They have Rasmus Hojlund of Atlanta in mind, and personal terms have been set. The next phase, which is likely to happen soon, is to submit a formal offer.
However, player departures are necessary to make sure United can afford the expenditure necessary and still have money left over to purchase a defensive midfielder.
To that aim, Nottingham Forest is throwing a lifeline to Manchester United and has already agreed to pay £15 million to sign Anthony Elanga.
Last Friday, word of Elanga’s permanent relocation broke, and Nottingham shire Live now offers a quick update.
The 21-year-old international from Sweden will reportedly have a physical today (Monday).
Everton, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig were among the fierce competitors Forest faced for Elanga. Additionally, it has been disclosed that negotiations to re-sign Dean Henderson are still going on.
The United goalkeeper, 26, had a successful season at City Ground when on loan the previous year.
Thanks to a thigh injury that ultimately necessitated surgery, Henderson’s season was cut short. Henderson’s performance when healthy, though, convinced Forest that they would welcome having the England international return.
The Athletic offers their own update to that effect, stating that Forest “remain hopeful of agreeing a deal to bring Henderson back.”
The team hasn’t yet decided whether they’ll strive for a long-term signing or another loan. The latter, however, will probably include an option or obligation to acquire.
An outright sale would be better in Man Utd’s eyes. That strategy would allow Ten Hag to spend heavily on a striker and holding midfielder right away.
Henderson is reportedly likely to cost around £20 million if relocating permanently, according to a previous Mail report.
