Young players Rhys Bennett and Daniel Gore have extended their contracts with Manchester United, the club has announced.

Both players have made an impression during preseason play thus far, and Gore was last week named to the 31-man first-team group that traveled to New York. Unfortunately, an injury prevented Bennett from traveling to the United States with the team.

The 19-year-old center back scored in the FA Cup Youth final against Nottingham Forest while leading United’s team to victory in 2022. He also participated in the 2-0 win over Leeds United two weeks ago in Norway and shown strength in the middle of the defense.

Bennett was given a new contract by United after Ten Hag acknowledged last week that the team may require up to five center backs for the upcoming season because Harry Maguire is anticipated to leave, potentially leaving the team with only three senior alternatives

Gore, on the other hand, shone in the most recent victory over Lyon, setting up Donny van de Beek’s game-winning goal and winning our man of the match award. Prior to the 2023–24 season, the midfielder—who had won the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award—received a new jersey number (44).

Ten Hag, who has already stated that youth players will be given a chance in the first squad this season, holds him in high regard despite the fact that he was not part in the victory over Arsenal on Saturday night. The Dutchman stated in Oslo that “we need to improve the squad. You can do it with players from transfers but you can also do it with players who are across the entire Man United youth academy.”

“Man United is renowned for including young players in its first team. [Alejandro] Garnacho succeeded the previous year. I always want at least one player who can join our squad, contribute, and contend for a starting XI spot.
