NBA Trade Rumors: In the upcoming weeks, it’s anticipated that trade negotiations between the Miami Heat and Portland Trail Blazers will intensify

Even though a Damian Lillard trade to the Miami Heat is not imminent, there is at least a glimmer of hope that something might be arranged in the coming weeks. An anticipation exists, according to a recent report, that trade discussions involving Lillard between the Heat and Portland Trail Blazers could heat up in the upcoming weeks.

While both the Heat and Blazers management offices have been away, there may be the groundwork for a potential serious discussion about a trade for Lillard once they return.

Of course, even if both sides were to seriously sit down and have a real discussion on a possible trade, there are still plenty of hurdles that would have to be cleared to agree to a deal.

The Portland Trail Blazers’ urgency to deal Damian Lillard varies

For starters, it’s not certain whether the Blazers would accept the Heat’s proposal if it included the items they’ve been demanding (three to four first-round draft picks and two young players). Portland still has the option to play the waiting game and refuse Miami’s offer in the hopes that another team will eventually outbid Miami for Lillard.

Even though it might seem implausible, the Blazers might decide to take that path. Since the start of the regular season is still two and a half months away, Portland does have time since Lillard is under contract for the foreseeable future.

On the other hand, The Heat doesn’t exactly have that much leeway. They still have to finish building their roster and decide how they’re going to handle Lillard. And there are still things they can do even if they don’t get Lillard. not to mention basic cleaning to minimize the distractions.

There is little doubt that the Heat are now in far more need of a deal than the Blazers. Will that matter if the two parties end up in negotiations in the near future, is the issue.

The NBA Training Camps officially begin in less than two months, giving the Heat and Blazers a decreasing amount of time to resolve this issue. The clock is ticking and, whether they are willing to admit it or not, both franchises are on the clock.
