“Greatest Olympians in Basketball”: Kevin Durant blatantly ignores LeBron James and Michael Jordan while supporting the USWNT

Legends like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and others have donned national team uniforms to represent their nations at the Olympics. But when it comes to individual success, Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony surpass these giants. KD recently declared in a tweet intended to support the USWNT that he thinks of himself as the greatest basketball player to ever compete in the Olympics.

Prior to his rookie season in 1984, Michael Jordan participated in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. He then competed in the renowned 1992 Barcelona Olympics. LeBron James represented Team USA three times at the Olympics, with the 2004 Athens Games ending with bronze. We last saw LBJ compete in the Olympics when he won gold medals the following two times, in 2008 Beijing and 2012 London. KD still thinks he disproves the legends despite everything these two have achieved.

Kevin Durant claims to be the greatest basketball Olympian of all time

The Team USA Women’s National Soccer Team recently played in their opening FIFA Women’s World Cup match. Team USA has excelled in this significant event. Team USA has prevailed in four of the tournament’s eight editions to date, including the last two in a row. They have a chance to make it three in a row, and several athletes have wished them success, including Tom Brady.

The USWNT posted a graphic with Kevin Durant and Diana Taurasi on it, wishing them luck.

A user questioned why KD was on the same as a result of this. As a response, Kevin Durant remarked, “It’s a good luck from 2 of the greatest Olympians in basketball.”

With good reason, KD places himself above the other basketball greats who have represented Team USA.

KD has only missed one Olympic competition since joining the NBA in 2007, and that was the 2008 Beijing Games. In addition, he competed in the Olympics in 2012 in London, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, and 2020 in Tokyo. In all three competitions, he guided Team USA to a gold medal finish. At the Tokyo Olympics, KD surpassed Michael Jordan to become Team USA’s all-time leading scorer.

Steve Kerr hopes KD shows up for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris

Steve Kerr was chosen as the head coach of the Team USA men’s basketball team following the Olympics in Tokyo. Even though the 2024 Olympic roster has not yet been finalized, he has already begun pursuing Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry, two prominent athletes.

Steve Kerr remarked following one of the Warriors’ games versus the Nets in 2022,

“That [Durant playing] would be fantastic… He has been so dominant for Team USA, and as I’ve already mentioned, he simply adores playing. Therefore, we are hope he decides to continue.

KD has the opportunity to go down in history as the first basketball player to win four Olympic gold medals if he decides to don the uniform. The motivation to stand alone at the summit of the mountain should be sufficient for the 6 foot 10 inch forward, however we’ll have to wait and see whether he decides to join.
