Raphael Varane recently expressed excitement about teaming up with Andre Onana, who recently joined Manchester United. The Cameroonian goalkeeper was recently acquired by United after leaving Inter Milan

The player comes in to take the place of David de Gea, who departed the team as a free agent when his contract expired. Onana arrives with a lot of anticipation because of his skill at distributing the ball.

Varane, a former Real Madrid defender, expressed his excitement to play with the 27-year-old goalkeeper in the following way:

“He [Onana] comes with his attributes. He is quite skilled with the ball and at ease using it. He instills the defense with a great deal of confidence. I’m eager to play with him”.

Manchester United is being forced to play in Erik ten Hag’s manner of play. Although David de Gea was a fantastic shot-stopper, Ten Hag’s method depends on players who are good with the ball in their feet. David de Gea lacked this skill.

Onana, who previously collaborated with the Dutch coach at Ajax, may be the ideal player to assist Ten Hag in getting the team to its peak performance.

Rio Ferdinand commented on Andre Onana joining Manchester United

Andre Onana’s acquisition by Manchester United has generated a lot of noise. The hype is reasonable in light of the player’s last season’s performances and his personal qualities.

Rio Ferdinand recently gave his opinion on the move, stating that Ten Hag’s determination to impose his system commands respect.

(According to the Manchester Evening News) Ferdinand

“Ten Hag wants to have complete control on every stage and feature of the game. He previously played in that manner before joining Man United. He attempted it with De Gea, Maguire, and other players while playing through pressure and press. Brentford is a prime example; they were penalized for being caught with the ball”.

Added him:

“I think Onana is a terrific signing; he personifies the new-age goalie. He has excellent footwork, but you shouldn’t discount his shot-blocking skills as well”.

However, Andre Onana will be under pressure to live up to expectations when he steps in to replace the famous David de Gea at the Manchester club. Viewers will be closely watching the Cameroonian’s performance for the Red Devils.
