Ten Hag addresses booing directed against Martial

Anthony Martial started ahead of Rasmus Hojlund for this evening’s clash against Everton.

Martial had the fewest touches of any starter with 35, and he was only able to manage one attempt on goal.

Martial was eventually subbed off in the 55th minute and replaced by Hojlund. Fans at Old Trafford booed the 28-year-old as he left the field and cheered Hojlund’s arrival.

Asked about the boos aimed at Martial, Ten Hag defended Martial as he replied: “Two weeks ago against Everton he played a very good game!

“So he has absolutely the competencies and the abilities to play so I don’t think it’s fair, after a performance like this, to go to one player now. As a group we failed, altogether.”
