In exchange for a 26-year-old forward, Manchester United offers an exiled winger to Barcelona

According to a shocking claim from SPORT, Barcelona has been offered a direct trade by Premier League powerhouse Manchester United for their 23-year-old winger Jadon Sancho and Raphinha.

Given Sancho’s disciplinary record, it is highly likely that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag does not think the player is a good fit for the team. However, Raphinha is also unable to make the required impression at Barcelona.

How is the agreement going to operate?

In 2021, Sancho signed a contract with Manchester United worth an estimated €85 million, while in 2022, Raphinha relocated to Barcelona, incurring a €60 million cost.

Sancho is a player who Manchester United is more than willing to let go of, but the issue is that they are unable to recuperate the money they paid for him.

Raphinha is in a similar predicament, despite his favourable circumstances at Barcelona and his current play.

How is Barcelona going to handle this?

Since Deco is the sports director and was Raphinha’s agent in the past, his viewpoint on this operation is particularly important at this time, thus all eyes will be on him.

Regarding the player, the Brazilian had inconsistent play in his first year and had an injury that hindered him during the start of the current campaign.

He has regained control over his game, though, and is desperate to recapture his form. Deco’s observations regarding this circumstance will probably offer insightful background and things to think about for the upcoming developments.

Barcelona and Manchester United have not spoken directly as of yet, but it is known that the latter have been keeping tabs on Sancho and that a loan agreement was previously entertained.

However, his inclusion will only be contingent upon a significant departure in January; given the lack of any significant plans, a swap agreement may be in order.
