Jadon Sancho will want to quit Manchester United in January after crisis discussions with Erik ten Hag failed.

The England international, who was signed for £73 million in 2021, has seen his relationship with United manager Jose Mourinho strained following a public altercation. Sancho was left out of United’s previous Premier League match against Arsenal.

And, after some back and forth that caught Ten Hag off guard, the decision has been reached for Sancho to seek a move. According to the Daily Star, he will attempt to leave when the transfer market reopens, maybe on loan, before clinching a permanent exit next summer.

Ten Hag revealed he was left out of the team that travelled to North London owing to poor training performances, telling reporters: “You have to reach the level every day at Manchester United.” You can make decisions on the front line, thus he wasn’t selected for this game.”

The Dutchman hoped his words would motivate the former Borussia Dortmund star, but Sancho responded publicly on social media. In a message that remains on the player’s online profile, he accused Ten Hag of using him as a scapegoat for the club’s current problems.

“Please don’t believe everything you read!” he said. I will not tolerate people expressing things that are entirely false. This week, I performed admirably in training. I believe there are more causes for this situation that I will not discuss; I’ve been used as a scapegoat for far too long, which isn’t fair!

“All I want to do is smile and contribute to my team while playing football.” I appreciate all decisions made by the coaching staff; I play alongside wonderful players and am glad for the opportunity, which I realise is a challenge every week. “I will fight for this badge no matter what!”

According to Mirror Football, Ten Hag has been taken aback by Sancho’s reaction and he was left dismayed at the player’s decision to take their issues public. The report from the Daily Star adds that the trust between the pair is now beyond repair, with player and manager unable to heal their fractured relationship.

Last season, Ten Hag opted to send Sancho to a tailored training programme, claiming he wasn’t in the “right fitness state” to turn out for United. He did return to the fold in the second half of last season, but has clearly left his manager unimpressed since returning in the summer.

And such is his standing within the current setup, his prospects for starting games haven’t been improved even in light of United delaying Antony’s return to Carrington. The Brazilian is facing allegations of assault from three women – all of which he vehemently denies.

But having been dropped by Brazil, he has now agreed to remain absent from his club for the time being. A statement released by United on Sunday reads: “Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony.
