Antony Returns to the United Kingdom to Face Assault Charges

Manchester United winger Antony is returning to the UK to cooperate with authorities on assault claims levelled against him, which he categorically denies.

Antony, the Brazilian winger, is currently on leave from Manchester United due to assault allegations coming from a previous relationship with Gabriella Cavallin.

An inquiry is currently underway by both Greater Manchester Police and Sao Paulo Police, with Antony strongly rejecting the allegations.

Antony, who has been in his native Brazil all this time, is now scheduled to return to British soil for a face-to-face meeting with officials.

According to The Sun, he was observed at Sao Paulo airport carrying a suitcase, a rucksack, and a wash bag, preparing for flights to Spain and then on to Manchester.

“I have mutually agreed with Manchester United to take a leave of absence while I address these allegations,” Antony said in a statement.

This decision was made to keep my teammates from being distracted and to avoid unnecessary controversy for the club.

“I want to emphasise my innocence in relation to the accusations levelled against me and commit to working fully with the police to help uncover the truth.” I’m looking forward to getting back on the pitch as soon as possible.”

Manchester United said earlier this month that Antony would not be representing the club while the claims are being investigated.

The Red Devils issued a statement saying, “Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony.”

“Players who did not participate in international matches are expected to return to training on Monday.”

However, Antony and the club have decided to postpone his return until further notice in order to investigate these charges.

“We condemn acts of violence and abuse as a club.” We realise the impact these claims have on abuse survivors and recognise the need of protecting all those engaged in this scenario.”

Cavallin claims Antony assaulted her in a hotel room the day after a Premier League match against Manchester City on January 14. She claims to have suffered injuries, including a head injury and breast implant damage.

Antony has made 48 appearances for Manchester United since joining from Ajax for £88 million last summer, scoring eight goals and providing three assists.

He has missed the Red Devils’ last four games, including the start of their Champions League and Carabao Cup campaigns, as well as Premier League games against Brighton and Burnley.

Manchester United returns to league action this weekend, hosting Crystal Palace in a rematch at Old Trafford after a 3-0 win against the Eagles on Tuesday night, advancing to the fourth round of the League Cup.
