“In the next 24 hours”: Man United to complete signing of ‘quality’ 25-year-old within 24 hours

Paper Works Completed – $60 million double transfer breakthrough coming after Nottingham Forest game

“Within the next 24 hours,” Manchester United will finalise the signing of a “quality” 25-year-old.

Altay Bayindir, the Fenerbahce custodian, could join Manchester United within 24 hours after the Premier League club conducted medical tests on him.

Like Rasmus Hojlund, whose injury was downplayed as the new £64 million striker prepared to make his Manchester United debut, the Red Devils were determined to complete their homework on Altay Bayindir as well.

And, after undergoing medical testing, United was clearly satisfied that Bayindir’s recent back problem was not as serious as others had suggested.

Dean Henderson is out and Altay Bayindir is in.

The Turkey international might potentially be unveiled at Old Trafford by the end of play on Wednesday, according to The Athletic. His arrival will also allow Dean Henderson to say his farewells.

Henderson has completed his own medical tests and will join Crystal Palace for an initial fee of £15 million, with the possibility of a fee of £20 million if add-ons are included.

Bayindir, who stands 6ft 6ins tall and has five Turkey caps, will be Andre Onana’s backup at Old Trafford. Bayindir is an excellent shot-blocker who can also pass the ball well. With Onana’s possible absence during the African Cup of Nations, his forward-thinking distribution should see him fit in well under Ten Hag.

‘A quality goalkeeper’

“I gave him the first captaincy in Ankaragucu. He took an important step in his career by transferring to Fenerbahce,” Bayindir’s former coach Mustafa Kaplan tells Calendar.

“A quality goalkeeper. When I talked to him, he said that he wanted to make money for the club if he left Fenerbahce. He’s done that. He takes another important step.

“When I said ‘Altay will go to a very big team in Europe’, there were people laughing at me! But it has turned out exactly as I said.

“I think if he takes the chance he gets, he’ll rock. Altay is an ambitious goalkeeper with big goals. He is opening a new chapter in his career. I think he will be successful in England and make a name for himself.

“I wish him success.”
